Oystercatchers

One of the pair of the Oystercatchers at work is ringed.

It would be good to be able to read the ring, but attempts at photographing it were a bit of a failure, wrong angle. Here is their frequent early morning perch.

For us, Orkney and Oystercatchers are inseparable. We're looking forward to the incessant piping and the general marching up and down, when we visit the isles in the summer. I recall being told that they weren't always so prolific in the area, so it must've been quieter in the past!

Its certainly noisy from end February on at our house, the new double glazing muffling it a tad being a disadvantage of the new windows; tis warmer indoors though.
