A note on effort. Effort is recorded by the number of Birdtrack complete lists that were made in each year. Usually one complete lists represents the recording effort on one day, but occasionally I may have produced two or even three complete lists for a day. In the more recent three or four years I have very rarely recorded more than one list on one day. A list would usually represent about two hours of recording effort I would estimate. I would suggest that although the effort measurement is therefore not a consistent value it will give a reasonable idea of the amount of bird recording effort made on the site in any particular year. There is no data prior to 2013 because due to local recording preferences I did not use Birdtrack very consistently from 2009 through to 2012. I very much regret this now but, so it goes... It may be possible to reinstate some of the earlier data from my notebooks but I suspect I won't get around to doing that. |

Of the 146 species I've seen 144. Treecreeper is not listed below as it was not entered in Birdtrack (see above). Louise saw Pomarine Skua whch flew over the car as I drove out of the drive and Bullfinch which I missed. The Gyr Falcons we've seen have not been submitted, Louise saw a white one from close range just outside the garden and I saw a dark one which would have no chance of acceptance by BBRC but it was good enough for me (the white one is not recorded within Birdtrack). Common Crane has most likely been recorded within the patch but not seen by either Louise or myself, reported subsequently by local people.
